Sublimation

How Sublimation Works

Dye sublimation printing is a process used to create high quality images onto your clothing. Because the material is normally printed first and then made, this method allows for print designs anywhere and everywhere over the whole garment! This process only works with polyester, so from sports teams to active gym wear to uniforms, you can produce highly detailed designs with sublimated t-shirts, jackets, sweats, the list goes on!

Advantages of Screen Printing

The process itself is pretty awesome. The original graphic is printed onto a separate material, and then heat transferred into the fabric. Unlike traditional methods, where the ink would attach onto the outside of the garment, dye sublimation penetrates into the material, allowing for bright vibrant designs like you see on professional rugby jerseys etc. Here's the cool thing-the heat vaporises the dye into a gas, (so the ink never becomes a liquid) which then transfers and attaches itself to the garments fabric. Once it has attached it then become solid again, leaving your design on the garment.

As mentioned before, due to the nature of how the dye bonds to the garment, only 100% polyester can be used, but this allows us to print incredibly high quality designs with amazing colour-fades, shadows, photo quality images, over the entire fabric. This means your design can go over your entire t-shirt design or whatever you want to print! Perhaps polo shirts with multi colour collars? The only limit is what you can imagine to make! (We have a whole variety of polyester garments available to be made.) Confused which method of printing is best to use? Don't worry, Our printing experts at Colourworks screen printers, Tauranga can help you choose the best option for your needs.

Advantages of Sublimation
